Learn animation using Adobe Animate! Adobe Animate is one of eight Adobe Creative Cloud short courses we offer in Sydney.

Got an idea for an animated story? Want to develop visual demonstrations of topics in your teaching syllabus? Need to create an animated Banner Ad for websites? You need frame-by-frame animation!

With Adobe Animate, formerly Adobe Flash, you can quickly publish to multiple platforms in any format and reach viewers on any screen. Adobe Animate allows you to design interactive animations, bring cartoons and banner ads to life, create animated doodles and avatars, and add action to eLearning content and infographics.

This Adobe Animate course is designed as your starting point to begin animating with Adobe.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this Adobe Animate course, you should be able to:

Understand the 12 principles of animation
Design an animation sequence
Assemble assets and animate
Understand why animation frame-by-frame works
Know your keyframes from your tween frames
Understand the Animate Interface Parts
Create a finished animation for publication
Draw new frames of animation directly on top of previous frames
Express yourself freely with new vector brushes in all sorts of styles
Work with a simplified tool for rigging and modifying animated characters
Create animated charts that bring presentations to life

Course content

What will be covered in this Adobe Animate course?

Through a series of exercises, you will develop examples of animation that get you started with the following:

Types of Frames
Types of Animation
Creating graphics of animate and inanimate objects
Creating reusable assets
Exporting your animation into a suitable format for publishing on your platform of choice.

After this section is over you can decide on what type of project suits your needs from:

Project 1: Banner Ad
Project 2: A Short Story Animation
Project 3: How a Mechanical device works

Intended audience

Who is this Adobe Animate course for?

This Adobe Animate course is for the novice and starts at the beginning.

Graphic designers, video editors and visual artists may benefit the most from this Adobe Animate course, as well as anyone with an interest in animation.

Basic competency with computers is assumed before enrolling, and proficiency in other Adobe software is helpful but not essential successful completion of this course.

Please note the following:

This Adobe Animate course runs in our computer lab, fitted with 27-inch Apple computers as well as Dell computers running the Windows operating system. Adobe products function in the same way on both Windows and Apple computers, except for minor differences with keyboard usage and where files are located within the computer.
